These were mine at three years old. I bought the Adventure when it was 12 months old with 1000 miles on the clock, but it was not garaged that first year. Subsequently, I used it summer months only.
Click image to enlarge As of 2019, the side protection was no longer available (Mantec had gone bust, but not sure if this was the reason) but front protection was. I requested anodising as a remedy, but the anodising wasn't thick enough and the corrosion was still visible. Click image to enlarge Eventually, the garage painted them silver. They still look good, but with summer use only and the lockdown, the Adventure has rarely been used these past two years. A reminder of how they looked when new Click image to enlarge Current Steeds: 2015 110 UW in Grasmere Green 2003 BMW F650 the Hack 2000 Elise 1992 Ducati 888 (no longer in bits, yahoo) 1990 TDR 250 (in bits again) 1988 TDR 250 (no longer in bits) and for sale |

Anodising has no thickness. It is chemical conversion of the surface. You would need to prepare it first and remove corrosion. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

That explains it; I doubt the bodyshop knew much about it either! Current Steeds:

I've often wondered, what is the chassis like, is it not a pain to ensure that part of the chassis is jet washed cleaned.
As an accessory i've never really understood why they LR fitted them, its not has if they offered an onboard compressor with a chassis mounted air tank. Just me rambling...... |
