If the motor is still running then the park switch is doing nothing, either because it has failed or because the large gear wheel with the cam on it isn't turning so the switch isn't operating. If the latter, the wipers won't be working.
Generally a failure of the wipers to wipe is cause either by one or more locked wheelbox, in which case the motor won't be running so isn't the case here, or because a wheelbox fault means that the rack isn't moving the spindles. This is less likely here since you'd have to have a fault with both wheelboxes for neither wiper to work. From your description I suggest the best course of action is to extract the motor and inspect the motor gearbox - it is likely that the gearbox contains the problem, whether it is the gear, park switch, or crank. There are various threads on here which will tell you how to get the motor out without having to dismantle the entire dash. It isn't easy but can be done. |

Thanks for the reply. I have been sent a video from the stealer that shows if you push one of the wipers they both move across the screen and back again but then stop moving, this is repeatable.
So going by your message below it is unlikely both wiper boxes have stopped working at the same time. The stealer says it needs both wiper boxes and a cable but not a motor? Any comment? 2.2 90 XS 88" Series One Old Norton Minerva |

The motor has to come out to replace the cable, so I would remove the motor and look for the problem. If moving one wiper also movers the other, it is very unlikely that there is anything wrong with the wheelboxes.
The fault, I am sure, lies within the motor gearbox. |

The plastic gearing in the wipermotor gearbox has probably stripped Ride like you stole it!!

Thanks again for the inputs, with your help I was able to talk sensibly with the stealer who has now agreed to replace the whole wiper mechanism free of charge because they only fitted it 13 months ago and they have agreed to do it under parts warranty.
Alls well that ends well, even if somewhat inconvenient for both myself and the dealer. Happy new year everyone 2.2 90 XS 88" Series One Old Norton Minerva |

That’s a good result if it’s new motor, wiper wheelbox’s and cable.
Once the new wheelbox’s are fitted pull up the rubber grommets, lube the spindles with 3 in 1 Oil, fill the grommets with red rubber grease and slide them back on . Then re oil and grease every 6 months. That will stop water ingress and resulting corrosion. Ensuring they will last for many more years. |
