I’ve replaced a few Td5 looms from ECU to pedal and this has always cured the problem. The original loom goes from the pedal, into main loom, across the bulkhead, then under passenger feet backward then across the top of G boxes. So have never got into stripping the loom looking for the issue. I’ve just replaced the loom direct with tow bar electric cable, as it has enough wires within it. I used to have a pedal assembly (potentiometer) to test first but no longer have that. Old td5’s were two track, and later ones three track, but the three track vehicles could be switch to two track if required. A nanocom will provide the readings from each track as it’s used/tested
The big difference is that the problem has always been that as soon as pedal is pressed the “driver demand” comes up and the engine warning light illuminates. So different from yours. And this may be important for you. If anyone near you has a Td5 it would be nice to pedal swap and test. If your near Hertfordshire then I’m happy for a pedal swap/test. |

Hi Andy thanks for your response and offer of help, much appreciated but Im back down south so a bit out of range, but very kind of you.
When you ran a new loom section did you follow the route of the original ? As it would seem possible to take a more direct route keeping inside the vehicle ? Also is it just a direct line from throttle plug to ECU not via any fuse box ? Im planning to have a good route around the loom cabling as finding the cause of the problem is always a good start to fixing one but not always possible with wiring. My pedal is the later 3 track type, if I find myself in the situation where the problem as you mentioned arises instantly when pressing the pedal would switching to to a two track setting with my nanacom provide a temporary fix and keep the vehicle in use ? Im just preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. Many thanks A |

I’ve always run the new cable more direct, but still outside the vehicle. Drivers under seat to outside, up the bulkhead and in by the pedal. Doesn’t go via the fuse board.
Swapping from three track to two track would only help if the correct single track was damaged/effected. So unlikely. |
