In this country, lets face it, the days of green lanes being open are numbered, and no matter what GLASS does, the fight will be lost eventually. so why should LR design a vehicle for the die hard purists which are a small market. Certainly for desert environments toyota kicks the arse of landrover in terms of reliability of drivetrain and suspension components, there's just no question about it. The evoque is LR appealing to a large market, and why not? its a business, not a shrine to enthusiasts. the new vehicle (I think) will be somewhere between an evoque and a defender to get the bigger market, i just cant see it being a hardcore offroad biased vehicle.

That area is already well covered by the Freelander and Disco. So if it's not utility oriented, what new is it bringing?

Looks like the old toyota!

God that's ugly! It looks like something the Russians/Yugoslavians would build during the Cold War. Does it have a chassis?
I prefer the IVECO on the YouTube clips - might buy one and square it off, Landy-style Wink

It's slightly ugly, perhaps, but I actually prefer it to the DC100. It has that no nonsense utility look to it, which I dig. Assuming you're talking about the Iveco.

Well lets face it, both of them are better than the DC100! 2011 110 USW

Even if you are able to buy a new one of those (awful) Iveco things in a few years time... surely you'd still be better off (& more up-to-date) with a 2nd hand late Defender?

I will lament the Defenders passing (after all, I love driving my new, vintage car), but when the inevitable happens - it's got to be forwards, not backwards for me.

I'll probably end up buying the replacement in 6 or 7 years time. I'll probably keep the 110 though to remind the kids that "when I was young..."
We didn't always have radar guided cruise control
We didn't always rely on sonar wading depth readings
We didn't always have 16 speaker sound systems

We didn't always have doors that shut first time
We didn't always have elbow room
We didn't always have dry knees when we reached our destination!

Progress - pah! One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
+ New Defender 110 First Edition

It's an Iveco Massif, that was built by Sanatana, but Iveco pulled out of the deal due to poor sales and Santana have now gone bust - so sorry to say that's off the list of DC100 alternatives (not that it was on my list, it's a bit ugly).
