Spain 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Alaska White
Egr connector how to disconnect

So trying to change my vcv, looks like it’s not an original and whoever changed it before had the strength of 1000 men to do it up. So intake manifold is being removed, only issue is I can not get this connector off

Any ideas? Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

Hello l would use a small screw driver to lift the tab on the side of the plug and then keep wigging the plug as you pull it up.

When you say lift, towards the bonnet. Asking as I could not see any way that it moved I tried sticking the screw driver in most locations prying etc, don’t want to break the connector Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

That connector is exactly same as what VW use..
Watch this video..

Unsure if he mentioned it, but usually I need to push the connector in a little bit to remove pressure from the locking mechanism, and then pull it off as he describes in the tube. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Thanks, this is the connector.

The issue I have is I can not see where to press, have seen a other video where they use a pic to push it up but don’t think that should be needed

There is no pressing to be done. It is a pulling action. The locking mechanism is kind of an L shape with a pivot ( imagine the L is inverted, up side down). When you pull on the short side of the L, it lever the ‘barb’ of the tip of the long side of the L which release the lock.
Remember that most times you need to push connector in a bit against its seal to remove the pressure from the locking barb.

So still could not work out how to get to the clip, to perform the push down pull up motion , then I remember seeing mechanics standing on the bumpers.

Standing on the bumper gives perfect angle to reach in and get that pesky clip off.

Thanks for your help and knowledge guys, now manifold off and let’s see if inc a get the vcv bolts out without snapping them. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

Czech Republic 1999 Defender 130 Td5 HCPU Baltic Blue
Try to clean the connector firs - with compressed air. If there is some trapped dirt, is is not possible to lift the locking tab enough to disconnect the connector. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

Thanks MadTom it was not that dirty it’s off now, have not done the vcv though as the house build took priority today so was with my plumber hat on, tomorrow evening I’ll get back on to the mechanic jobs Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.
