A universal locking nut removal socket (as loved by wheel thieves) is your best option, see Amazon, eBay, Machine Mart, etc., they're widely (too widely!) available.

Weld a very thick washer to nut - through the hole in the washer - and then weld a large nut to the washer 2017 Range Rover L405 Vogue SE V8 Diesel #16

When this happened to me (albeit not as severe) I used a 12 point socket and a sacrificed HSS drill bit as a key to get the locking nut off. The socket and drill bit have to be a snug fit, tapped on with a hammer. Then gently turn the socket. As it may be stuck, best go the whole hog and douse with WD40 and give the nut a few good taps with a hammer to loosen up any corrosion. Good luck. |

Thanks all. Ended up taking the easy option of driving to local helpful garage who had the right tools to remove the nut.
