(probably daft) question about focal speaker size
Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade the speakers in my 2012 110 Utility to the focal's recommended by many people on here. However I'm confused as what size speaker to buy. I've measured all 4 speakers (2 in dash, 2 at the rear) and they all seem to be 130mm, so I was thinking the PC130's would be direct replacements. But then reading on here and MUD-UKs website suggests that PC100's are direct replacements. Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

PC100 are the ones for the front, the 130’s go in the rear. Get the tweeters as well, they are very impressive.

Hi, are you measuring the outside diameter of the speaker grille at 130mm, or the diameter of the speaker cone/diaphragm?

Speaker size is the diaphragm size.
The grille is bigger as it covers the metal mounting plate that surrounds the diaphragm.

All standard fit speakers in the Defender are 100mm.
It's very easy to increase the rear ones to 130mm, but a bit more difficult for the front.

Ah, that's probably my mistake - I was just measuring the visible grille which was measuring 130mm, probably the source of my confusion. Thanks for the help!

I’ve just installed the 130AC into the rears.

You’ll need to jigsaw the diameter slightly larger.

Fortunately I took a few photos

Excuse the derailing. I've just installed a subwoofer (Audio System Germany US08 Active in a mud housing - carried it around under the cubby box for approx 2 yrs but had it connected last week since I couldn't figure out how to do it myself and was afraid of the cost...for good reason, I know now...) and am about to upgrade to new speakers. Found the PC100's online but not the tweeters: Can I ask you for a part number? Thanks, Christopher

The ES100K focal kit is the one I’m installing at the moment in the fronts.

The tweeter and woofer fit in the existing openings. The cross over can go within the dash.

It’s the PC100 in the rear, they are a straight swop.
Unless you’re an idiot like I am, it’s 10 minute job.

What are these good for? I don't get it, I am about to replace the stock speakers with Focal PC100's. Thanks!

I didn’t bother using them, just put the screws in the original holes.
There was plenty of bite.
