Hi All, I am after a set of door hinges as my doors are starting to sag quite dramatically. There have been many forum posts about these fancy security ones, but unfortunately, my budget is a constraint. Are aftermarket ones like these any good? :

I went through the same decision process as you. Fell on a set of galvanised OEM hinges which I drilled for grease and painted with rattle can paint. Worked a treat and three years on they are still in A1 condition.
You can see the process from here https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic53859...;start=135 |

Currently I am swaying towards trying some well reviewed aftermarket ones, and if they fail in a year or so, then so be it, but i suppose its worth a try, i do like your idea geobloke of modifying the hinges to allow grease points!

I replaced my hinges with Bearmach ones they were about £25 and about £18 for a rattle can of the correct paint 3 years later and all is good. that original ones lasted 16 years so will see how long these last lol

You what they say... Every little helps and when it comes to Defender door hinges then being able to lubricate them can only be a good thing. I have just been back through my orders and these were Britpart hinges. Apart from a small bit of spikey galv they were well made and took paint well. Cannot complain... |
