Hi Tim,

Yup, I've just had a closer look at the screenshots of the older Remote app on the App Store and it does indeed show the facility to set temperature too..... which begs the question.... why doesn't my App offer this, see below

It may not show that option on your app as it may not be legal in your country, I know somebody mentioned the other day that is was illegal to remote start a vehicle in their country Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

Hi Hairy Dan

The Remote Start works, I just can't set a temperature. Also, my Defender is a P400e PHEV, so it can use electrical power rather than fuel to warm the cabin, so I don't see why this should be disabled due to legislation. Current: MY22 P400e SE

I downloaded the Land Rover InControl Remote app before I received my defender. I have been using it ever since without issue, though I have no facility to set pre-conditioning target cabin temperature via the app (a facility I would like)

I note that in the screen shots on the app store for the Land Rover Remote it shows the ability to set target temperature.

I'm a bit reluctant to try downloading and switching to the latest app (Land Rover Remote), in case I end up with conflict issues. However it would seem only this app is receiving updates.

Is anyone else using the older app?


I had the older App when I had my Discovery Sport and moved to the new one when I got my Defender. You can have both on your phone at the same time so you won't lose anything while you try it.

There's a disclaimer on the App with regard to e.g. remote starting the car to the effect that local laws may prohibit use, etc.. Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S

Thanks for everyones advice

I have downloaded the latest App and it works fine, I now have the functionality to set the target temperature and remote start preconditioning of the cabin...however.... it only works for the petrol engine and only if the charging cable is disconnected! A bit bizarre but hey-ho I can live with that. Current: MY22 P400e SE

Having done some fault finding and investigation through the Customer Experience team the problem is with the Telematic Control Unit. They can see what the issue is. The TCU needs to be replaced, but now struggling to get a slot at a dealer within a reasonable time period.

Just as mine as I thought, I had to go into the deals twice for them to find out why and a 30 mile trip by them in my car, I’m still annoyed about Mike
