Why - turning circles for those tyre sizes and offsets should be exactly the same - the offset counteracts the tyre size - and the inner tyre sidewall to the the inner suspension / chassis is exactly the same - I have fitted both without issue - see piccies

I’m now running 255’s on Wolfs at 28 and 35 psi on 110 and wouldn’t go back to either 235 or 265’s 2017 Range Rover L405 Vogue SE V8 Diesel #16

Thanks for the reply and without any scientific research I has assumed what your pics show - so I am intrigued
All I know is that I carefully set my steering stops to max lock with Wolfs and 235's and no rubbing. Fitted the Zu's and 255's and they rub hard on the spanner arms on full lock Rob 1993 200tdi 90 hard-top 1998 300tdi 90 soft-top 2016 2.2 XS 90 hard-top (sold) |

I'm thinking the inner sidewall is the same but because the 255 is taller when on full lock the edge of the tyre turns further so that is what is restricting lock Rob

That could well be - every single vehicle will be different as well due to suspension / spring sag as well. I found the limit of mine is exactly 265’s on 08 offset was the limit - anymore and it rubbed. I have tried most tyre sizes and have now settled on 255/85 and it’s perfect - anything else looks too small or is physically too wide. 285’s look good but the turning circle unfortunately is abysmal Unless you have massively offset wheels 2017 Range Rover L405 Vogue SE V8 Diesel #16

I've done a few hundred road miles and have to say I'm still really impressed with the Toyo's.

I still wish I could find affordable BFG or similar AT tyres in 255/85/16 but despite hanging on for a while I’m not seeing anything come onto the market.
For those running these Toyos any updates or observations? Donald 1994 Defender 300Tdi 110 SW - owned since 2002 - 230k miles and going strong (The 'rolling restoration' or tinkering thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic58538.html ) 2000 Range Rover P38 4.0L V8 in the past.. Don I'm running at set about a year now....they are as quiet on road as any all terrain i've ever run before and surprisingly well mannered on a wet road.
Not had any big snow yet, or deep mud so can't comment there but good on general farm tracks etc. The 255 size really suits the 2.4 Defender with its lower down torque etc. but the standard Td5 struggles a bit on that size. N. |

They suit the Puma well in that size, just go easy in the wet.

I knew the gearing would be slightly different, but what you’ve said Nidge about it not suiting a standard Td5 is maybe a consideration more than I expected. My car is a 300Tdi. I have installed a VNT, and had the fuel pump tweaked to suit, and I have a Roamerdrive fitted. I wonder then if going to 255/85 might just compromise the use of the overdrive. Hmm. Anyone with 300Tdi using these? I’d expect so…? I run 255's on my old standard 200tdi 110 and it's been fine. I don't do many miles and only every trundle but had no issues. James

I used to run them on previous 90s, 200 and 300s. With a 1.4 t/box and little pump tweak they pulled just fine
On my current 110 I used to have them (td5) and it was great. I went up to a 1.2 box and it was horrible, t Although I dropped back to 235s then |

A bit o/t but when I had the gearbox redone nearly a couple of years ago, I had a ‘V8’ 5th gear put in - it’s something offered by Ashcrofts, though I don’t have the detail to hand. It was just too highly geared for the car to pull comfortably around here. May have been OK in the “flatlands” down south… That’s one of the reasons I eventually went for the Roamerdrive - a much more flexible option, and the reason why I want to be confident that going to 255/85 won’t cause me issues. My future usage plans (once we’re as far past this COVID as we’re likely to get) is for long motorway runs to the south, heading for France, Spain or Portugal, or even north into Scandinavia, and then off road tracks or whatever. This is why I’d prefer ATs (currently on BFG A/Ts) but if they’re still not an option why I’m looking at these Toyos.
