Departure times / preconditioning
Is this a feature not available on all defenders?
No sign of it on my apps screen on my 90ht.

The remote climate start works a treat from the app though.

Thanks

Timed climate is available with the fbh if my memory serves.

What you do with the app is start the engine Mike

Did you spec the timed climate/preconditioning when you ordered the car? It was an option at about £1200, if you didn't option it you will only have the engine remote start from the app. Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

I didn't specify the fuel burning heater. But the app lets me start the engine and select the interior temperature I would like the A/C to aim for.

Thanks Ian that would make sense.
It would be handy if the iGUIDE indicated what was optional extras etc.

Thanks

I have a P400e, I didn't spec the remote climate option but the remote app works to start preconditioning though it uses the battery rather than the ICE to do so.

If you don't have the remote climate option, and therefore can't configure temperature etc, does anyone have any idea what the LR default target temperature is, or does it just heat cabin to the last temperature set on the in car controls? Current: MY22 P400e SE

I have the app and can set temp etc,
But obviously there’s an upgrade that lets you set departure times via the pivi so it will always start on a work morning for example. L663 90ht

If you don’t want to compromise the PHEV’s electric range then only run the precondioner when the car is plugged into the mains or on a public charger. My Mini Countryman PHEV would have lost so much range that BMW designed the system so it wouldn’t run at all unless the car was plugged into the mains…… my new Mini EV has a heat pump that preconditions the cabin in around 10 minutes and heats the barttery pack for increased efficiency in the cold (it will also run the aircon on hot days!) even though it only has 28.6kw usable of its 32kw HV battery it will precondition without needing to be plugged in but I loose around 5 miles of its 100 mile range at this time of the year. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Ok, thoroughly confused now. I have the option, via the EV Charging app on Pivi, to set departure times for preconditioning, however nowhere can i find a way of setting the desired temperature? Current: MY22 P400e SE

As I have a Finnish-spec P400e PHEV I have three options to pre-heat the cabin:
1) Start the engine from the Remote app just like every other Defender
2) Use the fuel-burner heater (5 kilowatt Webasto-made unit)
3) Use the high-voltage electric heater (7 kilowatt Webasto-made unit)

Options 2 and 3 add the possibility for timed preconditioning. Also option 3 adds the possibility to pre-cool the car in summer time using the electric air conditioning. 22MY Defender 110 P400e SE w/ Off-Road Pack, Driver Assist Pack, Cold Climate Pack, Comfort & Convenience Pack + ClearSight Rear-View Mirror & 11.4" Infotainment Screen

Hi I have a Italian Spec P400e with the optional 5 kilowatt Webasto,

The option 1 is starting with Remote app (by select "fuel engine" in the app)
The option 2 is starting withe the Webasto RF remote
The option 3 is starting with Remote app (by select "electric engine" in the app)

But.. with mild cold climate (like 8-10°C) the option 3 works in strange mode...
If I start heating with the app (by setting electric mode 3), the car use the Webasto!!
Also the option 1 use, in the really cold climate (like -5°C), a combination of engine motor and webasto..

Is the same also in the yours Finnish-spec P400e??

You have to dig down into Pivi Pro's EV settings to choose to use the fuel-burner heater or the electric heater. There is an option "Use Fuel-Heater for Cabin Preconditioning" (or similar).

When you enable this setting:
- Webasto remote controller fob uses the fuel-burner heater
- Remote mobile app's on-demand climate request uses the fuel-burner heater (regardless it says it uses battery for preconditioning)
- All timed preconditioning events use the fuel-burner heater
- During driving the high voltage electric heater warms up the cabin (if the engine is cold)

When you disable this setting:
- Webasto remote controller fob uses the high voltage electric heater
- Remote mobile app's on-demand climate request uses the high voltage electric heater
- All timed preconditioning events use the high voltage electric heater
- During driving the high voltage electric heater warms up the cabin (if the engine is cold)

So to summarize: With this one setting you tell the car to use the fuel-burner heater or the high voltage electric heater for preconditioning. You can only use one of them at a time. 22MY Defender 110 P400e SE w/ Off-Road Pack, Driver Assist Pack, Cold Climate Pack, Comfort & Convenience Pack + ClearSight Rear-View Mirror & 11.4" Infotainment Screen
