Phev insurance
Bit of a surprise this morning, tried getting quotes to insure the phev and most of the quotes were eye watering coupled with 4 figure excesses. Land rover wanted £923 and a £1400 excess. Even A plan who I have used for last 7 years were over £1k. Gutted A Plan couldn't get me a decent premium, they were brilliant with my 110 puma and the T6 that replaced it.

Ended up with Budget for £432 and £650 excess. Hastings premium looked good too and was going with them at £489 but when I called to arrange was told it was now £554, so nearly a £70 increase in less than 24 hours.

Counting the days now, could have had it today but its going for ceramic coating on Monday so reckoned best to hang fire and pick it up with everything done.

I had similar problems getting decent quotes for my Mini E - NFU wanted 2.5 times more premium than I’m paying them on my 2020 Defender, most of the big names were similar. It was suggested I looked at SAGA (yes I’m over 50) and they gave me a fixed price deal for 3 years at £165 which is half what I pay for the 2020 Defender with NFU. I think that most insurers see the risk of having to cover the battery in the event of a crash to still be too high or there is insufficient statistics yet to show how the battery performs in a crash. I had asked SAGA to quote me for the Defender last year but they were more expensive than NFU and excluded off-road use………. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Might explain why the X545E is around £650 to insure vs the P400 at £380

My previous Mini Countryman PHEV was also more expensive to insure than the 2015 RRS SDv6 3.0 HSE D I had before it and I got a refund on the Mini cover when moved to the Defender that was almost double the value…… Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
