2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black

Difflock not engaging

Went to use difflock this morning. Worked ok on the way out, but on the way home engaged it before a tricky bit, thought the light came on but then noticed a load of wheel spin, looked down, no difflock light. Tried re-engaging, no joy, did a bit of reversing and manoeuvring to persuade it in, but won't engage.

Any ideas on what might be the fault or how to diagnose? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

It sounds like the lever needs adjusting a little to fully engage is all. Doubt it is anything to worry about internally.

The job involves removing the transmission tunnel and adjusting the pivot point a tad. Whilst you are down there make sure the linkage is not seized and grease it all up.

Also check that the plastic cover (item no.2 on the attached picture) hasn't come out of its locating slots and is fouling on the lever mechanism preventing engagement. Its not held in by much more than gravity and the hopes and prayers of LR's engineers.
