Whistle

That's my point, LR moved away from this type of advertising, moved away from Camel Trophy, moved into Tread Lightly and other such soft touch approaches; and now it seems the corporate memory has been ignored, forgotten, or just managed by people who have no direct connection with the history of the company.

The damage to JLR was done with the first verdict, the reversal of the decision does not alter that.

Damage?? Give me strength…

They had a handful of complaints, I never saw this in any meaningful news and anyone with eyes can see that it’s a well defined track.

You may be surprised to know that some parts of the world (even the this country) still have unpaved roads.

If they had showed a 4x4 bashing through ancient forest or a mangrove swamp then that’s one thing but this whole “controversy” is just a joke, a few morons who complain and some other people trying to stir up something out of nothing for a few clicks. Cheers, David

96 is not a handful, especially in the context of ASA complaints; and stating so fails to understand it only takes a single complaint to lead to the ASA confirming a breach of the code ~ it's not a popularity contest.

"I never saw this in any meaningful news" ~ must be great to inhabit a world where the sun revolves around you.

As for my knowledge of unpaved roads, I have an unpaved track to access my property...please what words of wisdom can you tell me about them, especially any tips for repair after a quad track tractor has decided to attempt a three point turn?

Describing people as morons just because they hold a different view to you is beyond words.

Hard to square away JLR's defence that "they did not use ecologically sensitive or protected areas when producing ads".

Is this photoshopped or just one of those forests that are not ecologically sensitive?

And a parting gift from JLR:

Are you really taking that side of the argument?

Maybe we should just criminalise AT tyres or any vehicle with 4WD to be safe.

I’ve no interest in getting into an argument over something so trivial, so have a nice day and let’s leave it there… Cheers, David

Clearly, as a 4x4 owner who enjoys the off road elements available to the owner of such a vehicle, I'm in a different camp.

My issue is with those that purport to be in my camp but then proceed to give ammunition to those that look to stop my enjoyment.

No different to the so called 4x4 tour organisers who post photos of their clients trampling fledgling crops or treating green lanes as some form of 4x4 rally circuit.

So yes I do call out questionable adverts/copy writing by JLR that give rocks to be metaphorically thrown at me next time I'm out and about enjoying myself in my 4x4.

96 sour hippies with no money and nothing but free time to gripe at the world are less than irrelevant. The ASA is nothing but an extension of the nanny-state that panders to the perpetually miserable. In the days before the social media echo chamber, these people were tossed asunder for the nuts that they are.

Not one person who actually intended to purchase a 5000lb 16mpg truck will be having any sort of epiphany after seeing it run over some sticks.

YET AGAIN I am having to step in and close a thread that's lightly veiled JLR bashing. Fed up of this, this isn't the correct platform, take it elsewhere.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
