Although the ones Terrafirma sell look suspiciously like the original Hannibal roof rack design with the square rear end. https://terrafirma4x4.com/alloy-expedition...x1-4m.html |

You are not wrong Jimbo55. I have a Safety Devices 90 Expedition rack on my roll cage and it is hands down one of the most robust racks I have every owned. It would easily carry a Smart car on top Not that you would want to mind. But seriously strong rack.
Just not what I need, so it will be put up for grabs shortly. Sadly there are no more new Hannibal roof racks so if you want one keep an eye on the second hand market. Wish I had never sold mine now. Brilliant racks and like you say great for mounting a roof tent on. Suspect I will mount the tent directly on to the rack and look for a dinky rack to go in front of it above the front seats. Or perhaps a demountable storage box... |

Patriot all day for me, even got a student discount
The build quality and fit of parts IMO eclipses all other manufacturers. As an engineer it was so satisfying to put together They are also only sent to powder coating once you've ordered so the finish is immaculate as its not been sitting in a warehouse. Best to call though if you can as he can be quit busy at times. Stuart Cummins 130 Build Thread 58 130 Double Cab HCPU - Cairns Blue 04 110 Double Cab - Black (gone) 07 Audi RS4 Avant - Silver |

Tembo 4x4. Biggest regret I have is selling mine. Now have a Hannibal but the Tembo is better made.

I had the Fatdog Rax fitted to mine for a while and that was a great low profile and also quite lightweight bit of kit. Easy to put things on it as well. Mine now has the Safety Devices full rack on and as stated it seems to be built like a tank.

I fitted a Patriot Rack to my 90 in 2007/8 and it looks as good now as it did when I fitted it. I had the ladder welded a few years ago when I broke it but other than that it is excellent and highly recommend.

Glad this thread came up, I've been thinking about getting a big rack to replace my expedition Lr rack on my DCPU.
I'm tempted by something full length with the twin ladders on the back to support but keep seeing this pop up on my searches and I'm tempted to try to recreate. The Tembo one looks great, just wish it could be full length on a pickup. Click image to enlarge |
