I am afraid I have not done this before John, but i would suspect that some gentle heat will soften the plastic enough to remove the old connector and emplace the new one. I would however add either a little sealant and/or a sprung clip like these

Cheers
Some gentle heat might have to be the way forward. Or I take it back the garage and say fix this, it was fine before the work.!! I will see how the connector goes over the next couple of days, before I start taking it apart. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Cant think off the top of my head which pipe that union is. I would probably replace the pipe though if I were you. To get a good seal with those barbed connections you need a fresh bit of pipe which will mean cutting the end off the current one and heating it up with a hot air gun. I fitted some new ends at the pump end on mine and wasnt easy.
I have got the old long fuel lines off my 110 TD5 if they are any use to you. You could possibly salvage the latching bit of the union off them to fix yours? Cheers, Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |
