I’m taking delivery of a zero VED, £10 a year fuel cost car next week The one off payment of £10 is to get the RFID card to activate the public chargers. The only tax I’ll pay on it is the VAT on the insurance and on the electricity used if I charge it at home instead of using the local free to use 50kW charger……. What’s going to happen to the tax take come 2030 when if you want a new car it will have to be a zero emissions at the tailpipe vehicle (will they have to tax hydrogen cars as they have an emission from the tailpipe - water!) Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

As people move towards electric vehicles they will have to be taxed, somehow, since the economy of the UK will break down otherwise. Enjoy the subsidised motoring while you can, it won't be long until you are paying as much as you were before.
