Electronic protection for under drivers seat electrics.
Seen this on another forum. Hopefully Drover will come along and explain how to do it. Whistle

Looks similar to using the under cubby safe - I wonder if they supply the extension cables etc to relocate the electrics?

As a slight aside I like the look of their glovebox;

I'd imagine there's enough slack on the cables to move this distance.

I presume the idea is to pull the cables back through the grommets in the box and route over the gearbox to the new position.

The only problem I see with this is it would make access to the box very difficult - the removable plate under the cubby box wouldn't be so removable now.

Looks a tidy job though.

Fitting Mulgo's X-box was a slow but not difficult process.

If you purchase one it will come with very detailed instruction.

Firstly there is enough slack in the factory loom, just buy cutting a few cable ties.

Secondly, the plate under the cubby box is replaced with the X-Box.

At the end of the project all (except the one wire that runs to passenger door for central looking) wires and components are housed in the X-Box. Effectively giving a extra 300mm of height to electrics.

The X-Box has all of the brackets needed to transfer all of the standard components. (You do need to remove the relay carriers from under the drivers seat and reuse them in side the X-Box).

The cubby box fastens to the lid of the X-Box and easily lifts up, to provide access to the electrics.

benefits
1/ Increased wading depth
2/ Frees up box under driver seat for storage
3/ lift cubby box to comfortable height for arm rest.

John I understand that a UK made larger glove box will be released in the near future.

If you are steaming ahead through deepish water than there is probably not any difference......But if you got stuck or had to stop, for what ever reason, the extra 250mm of height, may just be the difference.

LR give the wading depth of a PUMA as about 400mm, an extra 250mm is over a 50% improvement.

and if you relying on the under seat box being water tight, I found evidence on water ingress in the bottom of the box.

Hey df1

All of the wires, bar one, are in the main loom. The loom is removed from the side entry point into the drivers seat box, grommet and all.
You do remove the wires/loom from the factory grommet, the Ex-Box has the same sized hole in the bottom of it. The loom is simple redirected up into the X-Box from underneath and sealed with the factory grommet.
One of the heavier wires, from the fuse box needs to channelled through one of the spare entry points on the factory grommet. It works out very neat and tidy and all sealed up.
