Spare wheel cover..
What's the benefit of a spare wheel cover? Is it a theft deterrent, a cleanliness thing, pure aesthetics?

I took a dealer supplied one but have since taken it off, though thinking about getting a genuine one fit the same reason as above.

Interesting.

Is UV thought to be more of a problem for the spare compared to the ones on the road? More exposure?

Or is it just that you might not use it for 10 years..

Tyres do “seem” to degrade more when not used, especially over many years of non use, but I don’t think there is a huge amount of evidence to support this. The thing is that UV does affect tyres, and you can’t cover up the ones on the vehicle, but you can cover the spare on the door, so at least it’s in the best condition it can be come the time you want to make use of it.

It does make sense. I think it'll be a post purchase acquisition.
