There goes wishfull thinking.
Just paid out a £1000 to BMW for an X545E. £250 to Citroen for their AMI. I suppose the concern is people ordering to sell on. So 2k may deter speculators. |

I think it’s more to do with the current situation, as above large deposits may deter those ordering to sell on. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Dealers in New Zealand are asking 10% deposit on new Land Rovers now.

I had to put down a £1000 deposit against a Defender 110 XS. I think that when I last bought a new RRS in 2017 I put a £500 deposit down?

I put down a £1000 refundable deposit on a Defender 90 in June 2018………. Used it to secure a D240 First Edition that the dealer had in stock in June 2020.
On 29th Sept this year I placed an order with the local BMW dealers for a Mini Electric and they only wanted £500 to secure the order that they said I might get next Jan/Feb but in fact it rolled off the production line on Monday and will be delivered during Week 47 / w/c 22nd Nov. A friend ordered a 22MY Mini Cabrio in July that was supposed to be here by now but he’s been told MAYBE Feb or March 2022! The cause of the delay is that 22MY Minis are to get the digital dash as standard but that has always only been available in the BEV and PHEV Minis up to now and are in very short supply so it’s take the analogue dash or wait. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

My Defender 90HT was a £1000 fully refundable deposit whereas my awaited Tesla is £100 but non refundable.
I have to say that anything refundable seems a bit pointless really. SJT D5. Previously 90HT, D4, D4, D4, D2, D1 (3 door V8!) |

Put down £500 for a d5 last month. It is with a dealer who knows me having purchased 7 new Land Rovers from them over the past 15 years. Or, could be the disco is so ugly they know I won’t be selling it on

£500 fully refundable is all I’ve ever put down but then I use the same salesman each time, he’s sold me 11 LRs. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue
