Webasto Thermo Top C under wing installation in Puma
Something seasonal - just as the heatwave's coming to an end!

I've just finished fitting a Thermo Top C fuel burning heater to my 110 and have written some notes which may be helpful/not to anyone contemplating the same. I decided to put my heater under the front wing behind the headlight, I know others have mounted them on the chassis, in cubby boxes etc.

I had to split the document up into six parts to be able to upload it and you can find it under 'Webasto Installation in UK Puma' in My Gallery. There are also some general docs in 'Background Webasto Docs' which may be useful.

If anyone is new to the forum and looking for info on Webastos then do a search, 'dgardel' has posted some useful stuff.

Thanks! There's some really useful info there. I'm seriously contemplating making this addition myself although my local (useless) Webasto agent still hasn't come back to me with the information and prices I requested.

These docs in conjunction with the info DG posted out a while back are going to really help.

I must admit though that having looked at all of your (very thoroughly documented) steps, removing the complete wing assembly to gain access does look like a huge amount of work.

I have the fear of dread of having to remove the towbar assy and lower the fuel tank to fit the fuel pick up pipe, but I really don't fancy having to remove the wing too. I know it makes for a really nice and neat installation, and I think it's how Entreq do their 'expedition' version, but I think I might have a look for somewhere else to minimise the amount of work.

I did the tank pickup some time ago and have been putting off installing the heater for a while - it is a lot of work.

this may sound silly, how do i find 'cobs' gallery without going through all of the pages which seem to be listed randomly on the 'gallery' page.

have tried searching on gallery for cobs and for 'Webasto Installation in UK Puma'

alternatively is would you email them over? Cheers

We have recently done this with a puma 2.2 at work except we fitted ours under the passenger side wing between the heater and inner wing. We purely did this to aid access in the event of it going pete tong, limit the length of hosing/wiring.
The electrical plugs can be accessed by just removing the nearside eyebrow and if the unit requires removing it can be done by just removing the wing to bulkhead bolts.
Pictures can be seen on trekoverland facebook.
