External (Of chassis) steering boxes

Steering box for my conversion may be in the way - any conversion kits for one on the outside of the chassis?

I've seen one or two for the older series cars.

The P38 steering box conversion seems to be a common one, pretty sure it’s what is used on the 70th anniversary defenders. Blackbird Industries make a really nice kit to do it 👍

Irrespective of what steering box you put in, try to copy the original design. On the Defender, Landrover have kept the stresses on the chassis to a very low level, The design is such that the steering push/pull action on the drag link is transferred back through the panhard rod to the steering box itself. Excellent design in my opinion. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
