Nothing on their web site as to why two winches but I suspect it is to spread the load.
I have seen a couple of You Tube vids showing Mog builds (Ronny Dalh being one) and when speaking about the front winch both owners said that one of the issues they have is finding suitable (and usable) snatch blocks as they need to be small enough to store and handle as well as safe under load. I guess the snatch block for example I have is too small, and a commercial recovery truck version is too big. The other thought was as the builder is based in Colorado and overlanding and rock crawling is a thing and as the Mog is a big girl you could use the winches in the same way a climber uses an ice axe. Ie use one to pull you up and keep the vehicle secure, then run out the second, take the load then back off the first winch then continue moving forwards. We did something similar years ago on a winch challenge event, winched up, then secured the 110 with a strap then reset the winch for the next pull. Alternatively it’s just marketing bull……. |
