Hi all, Went to go and have some of the bits and bobs put onto the car today, things like bull bar, winch and so on, and they had these: 285/70/R17.. so i popped them against my car and they look amazing.. im just slightly worried about the amount of height thats left for the tire to travel up into the wheel arch.. Now the suspension is stock in the photos and i am putting on the OME 'Extra heavy duty' suspension which should lift the car buy 40mm - 3"... if is does will this tyre then fit no probs?

(bare in mind that the wheel rim at the moment is sitting close to 3" off the center of these tyres and that these are actually made for a 17" rim unlike my 16's)

PLEASE ADVISE

That would be 8mm not 8" Thumbs Up

Great thanks!!

Would you recommend these over the 285/75/R16.. so the 17" rim over the 16"?? is there any difference between the two as far as clearance is concerned??

AndrewS - is that a 'skinny' tyre i see on the back of your landy (on your avatar) what size is that? cos im wanting to carry two proper size spares and then one skinny version going on the bonnet, im guessing the full size 285's will be too big and pull off the bonnet with its weight, along with kill the vision over the front..

The difference is the rim's
the 16 are 16/7j
where the 17 are 17/8.5j
285 will sit alot better on the 17/8.5j rims.
285/75/16
285/70/17
the tyre's diameter work's out the same size
so the clearance will be the same Thumbs Up NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

Thanks for the info! its good to see a picture of an almost identical truck to mine! looks good! how long have you had them on for and have you had any probs? what do you rate - would you take your land rover round Africa and India with these wheels on - could it be done with ease

They have been on the 110 since new about 7500 miles now and before that they did about 5000 miles on my 90, no sign of wear yet Very Happy If i had to buy another set of tyres tomorrow i would definately buy the same Thumbs Up
