Sold Classic Trials bike
Hi I am going to sell my 1959 Greeves Scottish 24 TCS 250cc it is a very early one being build no 26 and although it’s a 1960 model this bike was released to the dealer in September 1959 and sold and registered in December 1959 to the first owner who kept it for 50 years selling it in 2009 it is a matching numbers ( frame and engine )bike and also still bears its original registration number which is transferable although I wasn’t interested in doing that due to it being the original, I searched for along time for the right bike as there are very few that are matching numbers inc the original reg no, I hadn’t intended to sell this however I have been offered the opportunity to buy a series 2 again and Tash has put her foot down and has said it is one or the other, the V5 is in my name, the bike has been fully rebuilt the engine and gearbox are absolutely as new and still requires fully running in, it will also be supplied with all of the internal gearbox components to table it up to isdt spec which once fitted leaves 1st and 2nd low geared for trialling however 3rd and 4th are road going gears, these were all bought from Villiers services at considerable expense, the wheels are Dunlop rims rebuilt with stainless spokes, new ignition coil, points, plug, condenser, cables, sprockets, chain, tyres, exhaust and suspension units, it is also fitted with its original kidney speedometer and has been repainted in the correct Moorland blue paint, everyone who sees this bike comments how beautiful it is, I would like £4500 ono and will make a donation to the website once sold, please if you have any questions let me know, this is 62 years old making it mot and tax exempt and also cheap to insure. I am located 1 mile from junction 6 of the M40, please if interested call Paul on 07766 325028 or pm me on here as I’m on here daily 👍 cheers Paul ps I should also of added that it comes with its original handbook with some very nice original drawings and a folder of paperwork inc a letter from Greeves to the original owner.

I like a bike with "not lights".

I had a couple of trail bikes in the 1980's with no lights MOT that I used to Green Lane with the TRF. Cheers Don.

Hi Don, I liked that too, however if someone wanted to add lights it’s a simple job to add them, I’ve had a few bikes but this is very easy on the eye everyone who has seen it says how lovely it is and in fact it was a very advanced bike for the time so as well as a looker it is also a very competent bike Thumbs Up cheers Paul

If I had the cash burning a hole in my pocket, I'd buy it from you in a flash. It looks superb. Good luck with the sale.

I searched for along time for the right bike as there are very few that are matching numbers

Just for info, there is a good reason for that. At that time it was not common practice to match the engine and chassis numbers. BSA, for instance, did not routinely do so until 1969.

Hi Thanks for the comments Thumbs Upi Should of mentioned by matching no’s I meant the original numbers are matching therefore it hasn’t had an engine swap, it is as it left the factory in sept 1959 Thumbs Up cheers Paul ps the number plate is of no interest to me to remove however I did enquire purely to get a valuation when I decided to sell the bike and was quoted well over half the price of the bike by regtranfers cheers Paul

Hi and a big thank you to Martin Thumbs Up I have got the bike out this morning and have taken a short video and added more pics after a couple of requests, I also forgot to add that it has the tool tube fitted as well Thumbs Up the picture of the tank does show a few marks but there are no dents just light marks, I have just been out for a very pleasant ride on it and can confirm that it rides absolutely faultlessly Thumbs Up cheers Paul ps Tash has just put the video at the bottom Thumbs Up

What a lovely looking bike, if finances allow, when work returns to normal for me, I may well be interested. No use to you now I know!
