Ok - thanks. So is this 'normal' and nothing to worry about, or should I get it checked - i.e., it's not meant to make that noise?

There should be no noise NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

Is this a common problem? Could it be anything else? Like i say, I can only really describe it as like a ruler being "twanged" off the edge of a table. Only lasts a couple of seconds?

I dont think it's a problem, it was a guy in Aus who told me what it was.if you have your foot on the brake pedal on start up you'll feel it pulse. 2.4 90 XS

That's interetsing - I'll give that a go later. It does sound like something pulsing (I can see that is a better word than "twanging" ).
Thanks for speedy replies all. I have to say, I am loving the Defender. I've just got back from a few nights in France and used the D3 for that drive, and all the while I was looking forward to ghetting in the Defender this morning! |

Mine does the same - definately the abs system. Never bothered me and lasted 14K without worsening. Puma 110 - gone

mine does too, you can feel it through the brake pedal, had a td5 discovery, that did it also.
