XS vs HSE
Hi all

I have spent the morning on the configurator and I am really struggling to justify a HSE over the XS? Am I missing something here as I always thought the the HSE was better equipped than the XS?

The paint I like (Silicon Silver) is twice the cost on the HSE and the Privacy Glass is standard on the XS but £400 on the HSE?

Anyway, I have spec’d

110XS with D250 engine in Silicon Silver.
Larger 11.4” centre display.
Cold Climate Pack.
Luxury carpet mats.
Secure Tracker Pro (12 months)

That seem to be everything I want and will need. Very surprised the I am leaning towards the XS?

I was originally going for an XS but found out you couldn't spec adaptive cruise control for some unknown reason, the salesman actually got in touch with the factory about it but they just said not an option. In the end I went for a SE and added just about all the options to it that I wanted. The configurator does have some weird choices and options on it like you can have A but only if you add B also, I think whoever thought about the option must have been smoking something a little weird Laughing Cheers Ian

Interesting question.

Looks like XS doesn't have the 14 way seats, leather steering wheel and Adaptive Cruise Control.

It also has Grained, not Windsor leather.

Yep but it comes with a P400 engine and at that price its a bargain over the X. Just cant see the 19k difference.

Maybe that's why I still haven't got a build date. Wink

It does have the leather steering wheel. Configurator is showing the suede steering wheel but this is "new" and the spec still says leather. Who knows with LR?

Yes, the XS only has the 12 way electric seats compared to the 14 way ones on the HSE. I think for the saving I could live with that…

I'll let you know what the extra 2 ways are like, given I've ordered an HSE!

I suspect the Adaptive Cruise Control is the major differentiation.

I’m not a great fan of the adaptive cruise control as I find myself reacting before the car does when vehicles ahead start to brake Rolling with laughter

XS was launched to replace the First Editions as they were good value for money and sold really well. About the only thing FE doesn’t have that the HSE does is adaptive cruise.
Two things put me off ordering an XS for 2023 delivery as a replacement for my First Edition are - I don’t like the body coloured lower bits, nor the grim colour choices. 3 shades of ditch water - little bit dirty - Hakuba Silver, bit more dirty Silicone Silver (and extra cost), muddy dirty, Gondwana Stone or funeral black……….. why no Green or Tasman or a red? Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

For me it was all about the P400. I can live with the rest........ as long as its Silicon.

Not a great user of adaptive. On looking back I typically only used it to follow an HGV or coach down the motorway. It does work unless you drop out of the "shadow". Don't have it on my T5 and I don't really miss it. It on our CH-R, but its never been used.

I use adaptive all the time, I had it on my FFRR and it is on the Toyota Land Cruiser I have at the moment, I'm looking forward to getting back to the Land Rover system as the Toyota system doesn't bring you to a complete stop. On the Toyota it just switches off when you get under 28mph, which led to a few frightening moments when I first got it Laughing ACC was the one thing my new Defender had to have. Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

LR retrofits will do adaptive cruise for about £250, that’s the route I’ll be going down. All the bits are already there so it’s just a change to the car configuration file CCF 110 XS 250 MY 23 Gondwana Stone, Cold climate pack and towbar

We had the debate over HSE v XS as I want ACC, ended up going for the XS and planning on spending the ££££ saved on getting the nice toys turned on at LR Retrofits 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon

That was the route I had planned but Mo said he wouldn't be able to confirm that he could do it until he had the car hooked up to the computer, that's why I went the SE route with ACC as an option Thumbs Up Cheers Ian
