Britpart spare wheel carrier rattle.
I went for the cheaper option. Seen great reviews of the ORE carrier but had limited cash and went Britpart.

Yep, I know….. but it’s done now. Bloody thing rattles. Basically there’s a nylon cylinder that slides in and out of a tube as the door opens and closes. This is fractionally small which therefore allows a bit of play causing the rattle. I can put my hand on the spare wheel and pull it back and forth 1mm and recreate.

Any tips on bulking out the nylon cylinder fractionally? This rattle is blowing my mind.

No need to advise me against going cheapest. I’ve learned that lesson.

I have the same carrier and generally find it to be a good bit of kit. I'd check to make sure that the nut on the end of the threaded rod into that cylinder is tight as the first port of call. The instructions for that arrangement aren't particularly great and it's possible to assemble it in such a way that it shakes itself loose almost immediately, which results in the rattling that you've described. I ended up changing the nut/washer arrangement and including a nyloc, which cured it for me.

There's some more detail in my build thread starting here and the following few posts:

Rattle fixed. It’s a Censored to tighten the nuts against each other. When tightening up the outside one, it just seems to want to undo the thread on that nylon piston thingy.

Done up fairly tight with a nylock nut and seems to be rattle free. Just disappointed I couldn’t crank it a bit more

Thanks for the advice.

I used a set of mole grips to hold the plastic piston and fitted spring washers between the nuts. Also greased the piston too.

It is a great value bit of kit once you sort the nuts out.

I did a similar thing with water pump pliers to tighten a nut against the end of the cylinder:
