2.4 Turbo to Exhaust Gasket
Hi

Is there a gasket on a 2.4 Puma between the Turbo and Exhaust (the square connection). In the catalogue there is no mention of the gasket and can't find a part number elsewhere.

I do see on eBay some gasket sets being sold with what looks like a square gasket but no LR part numbers are mentioned.

Thanks
Nick

I was informed by island 4x4 that there is no gasket listed for this joint.
I just used some exhaust paste on mine and it doesn’t seem to leak.

I wonder what Lr use as the sealant ?

Ps. I also wondered what part 13 was, and saw it was “Anti-squeak grease” which made me smile Very Happy ,it’s for the turbocharger actuator rod. But then I saw the price, £51.45 a tube, at which point I fell out of my chair Neutral

No gasket
I have the 2.4 engine in a 2008 Defender.
I first removed it in 2016 to change the clutch but there was no gasket.
I removed it again in 2019 to rebuild the engine.
I am currently refitting it now following a chassis change.
I saw some gaskets available online and queried this with my supplier (Brook Street Garage, Cuckfield).
They checked with one of their mechanics who has worked on several of these engines and he confirmed that these engines never had gaskets.
The ones available online may be there for owners who want to fit a gasket but they are not required.

IanH - Yes, that’s the grease I was on about in a tiny tube as well.
In effect it’s just high temp ceramic grease, to be honest I’m still not sure grease is ideal for that as it will gum up anyway and lead to laggy performance.
It might be fine at first, but over time gets sticky, which why I use a bit of 3 in 1 on a regular basis.
