I'm looking at getting a smaller steering wheel for my 2015 110USW because with the Mud seat rails the clearance under the steering wheel is a bit restrictive getting in and out. It's currently got the 'padded' Td5 type wheel with the big booty in the middle, and a 48 spline shaft.
I've decided on a Moto-Lita from Mud UK but the choices for the boss are confusing. It refers to some later models having DSC and a DSC steering wheel boss which is different. My vehicle definitely doesn't have DSC (not even ABS or alarm/central locking - it's a basic export model) but it has the 'hump' on the bottom of the steering column that MUD identify, and the innards are unlike anything that I recall on older models though I haven't had one apart for a while. Is this a "DSC column" despite the vehicle not having DSC? I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that LR fitted something that was wrong for the vehicle ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge --- 2006 Defender 110 SW 300Tdi • 2011 Ford Ranger XLT crewcab • 2015 Defender 110 Station Wagon Utility TDCi |

Definitely the DSC type steering wheel, and you appear to have the steering angle sensor.
Do you have this switch top left of your centre dash? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nope, nothing like that in any of the switch locations, and I'm 100% certain it doesn't have DSC.
![]() Click image to enlarge I imagine the important point is how the indicator trip engages, which probably means that I need the expensive boss even though the vehicle doesn't have DSC. ![]() And probably means if I ever have to replace the indicator trip it'll cost a ruckin fortune too ![]() 2006 Defender 110 SW 300Tdi • 2011 Ford Ranger XLT crewcab • 2015 Defender 110 Station Wagon Utility TDCi |
