TD5 cold start - fuel pump?
I have a 90 TD5 106k miles. Fuel pump has always been quite noisy. Injector seals done and vehicle serviced every 4k miles. In the last week it has stopped starting well from cold. If you switch ignition on and let the pump prime (approx 35 secs until pump cuts out) the engine needs a bit of a churn to start. Once it starts you can switch it off and it will restart as normal.
I have been looking at pumps and see Lucas do one. Has anyone used these? I would assume that they would be better than the cheap pumps that seem to be noisy and short lived?

I know you say you’ve done the injector seals, but that is exactly what you are describing. Possibly not what you want to hear. Can’t help with pump question.

Less than 10k miles ago it had a replacement head, so seals were replaced as part of that process

check your filter head and duck bill nonreturn valve and air bleed fitting
this be deformed over time and stops sealing and fuel runs back from the head

this had a recall for o ring faller witch let air in to fuel system

both items have been re call in the past for poor starting

if you can place clear pipe in the fuel return line in between fuel cooler and tank engine end and check for air in the fuel

But your pump may be noisy du the air

Sounds like injectors. Had mine done with oem injector seals and these lasted 6/12 so had genuine replacements with no problems.

My genuine seals only last around 24months. Ironically had to use some britpart ones i had as i couldnt wait for delivery and they lasted longer!

The genuine ones are ridiculous price now! 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread
