Dual mass flywheel
I'm probably showing my ignorance here, but does the TDC1 use a dual mass flywheel like in the Transit? I ask because as a business we've had several Transits and all have suffered terrible problems wirth the DMF breaking up.

Thanks

I wish the puma had a dual mass flywheel, as it's the harshness transmitted through to the gearbox which accelerates wear. A double edged sword scenario if ever there was one! Rolling Eyes

If this is the engine from a transit surely a DMF from that would fit if you really wanted one? Not sure if they're the same size but i bet they'd be close.

Did not have a look at it, but thought it would have a dmf and the smf was for hd usage? Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

Are all inpout&output shafts really "loosen" in these gearboxes? (radial slack) Puma 110" SW

[I wish the puma had a dual mass flywheel, as it's the harshness transmitted through to the gearbox which accelerates wear. A double edged sword scenario if ever there was one!]

So if we want a Puma to go 150,000 miles should we be looking for a different (better) gearbox to mate with the engine?

The Getrag MT82 gearbox is an ongoing tragedy - just try looking at some of the Mustang owners' forums too...
