Like many car makers they have taken down low profit margin variants for the time being to save semi-conductors for use in the higher margin cars. Made exec decision that even at lower spec and prices I just can’t justify the spending on something that’s going to get used so little. Skippy does everything I need and want, even if we do get to travel sur l’continent next year, or the year after. Maybe in a few years I’ll buy an older one, but then I know the perils of running an older (ie out of warranty) LR, but SWMBO’s car would be the priority to replace then. SWMBO likes the look of defenders and keeps thinking they are a new type of Disco, not sure that’s a good thing as she refused to drive any of our D3s as she thought the habit of them shutting down when being driven was dangerous. She wasn’t keen on me resetting the car by shutting it down and restarting when in motion.
Starting to see more and more out and about though. |

Not doing too badly with Skippy, bought for £21k and presently worth (according to AT) £20.5k at 18 months and 7,500k miles. Plus over 50mpg and much cheaper insurance. Never had such cheap motoring outside of bangernomics.

Yep I did that a couple of times in my first D3 which suffered the sporadic inactive cruise control clockspring failure which could only be rectified by a ignition off / ignition on cycle - with hindsight it was a stupid thing to do... Also, just done a requote on mine (actually the closest I could get) - £4,500 more now than when I ordered at end of December - about 8% increase Think you've missed the boat Derek! With my history of LR ownership, bullet well and truly dodged.
Re car ownership in general, I’m happy to be enjoying the quiet, relaxed and stress free life. The most car related excitement I get is reading here about the latest OTA updates or plastic bits that don’t like the heat. |

There are reports of the plastic extended wheelarch bits coming unstuck and deforming on the hot day that makes for our summer.
