United Kingdom 1998 Defender 90 V8 Petrol 50th Auto Chawton White
Defender SE D200 ordered
After hundreds of builds on the Land Rover configurator I finally made a decision yesterday and placed an order for a Defender D200 SE and I went a bit mad with the extras, the full spec is as follows

    Defender SE D200 in white ETA it's a 110
Changing wheels to 19” gloss black alloys with off road tyres
    Privacy Glass
    Electrically Deployed tow-bar
    Sliding panoramic roof
Ebony Grained leather seat facings with Ebony interior
12-way heated and cooled electric memory front seats with 2-way manual headrests
    Light Oyster Morzine headlining

    Driver Assist Pack
    Adaptive Cruise Control
    Rear Collision Monitor

    Off-Road Pack
Electronic Active Differential with Torque Vectoring by Braking
    Off-Road tyres
    Domestic plug socket

    Comfort and Convenience Pack
    Twin front cupholders with cover
    Front centre console refrigerator compartment
Wireless device charging with phone signal booster

    Cold Climate Pack
    Heated washer jets
    Headlight power wash
    Heated steering wheel

    Front Classic Mudflaps

    Rear Classic Mudflaps

I have been given a delivery date of the 1st of October but I am taking that with a huge grain of salt Confused But can't wait for it to arrive whenever it does. The dealership let me have a D200 SE on an extended test drive for 4 days and that is what really made my mind up along with a small discount which helped things along. Laughing Cheers Ian

Very nice spec - interesting that you opted for the new 6 cylinder D200 - a lot of people that have driven this one find it perfectly capable and struggle to justify the increase in cost for the D250 and D300. When I spoke to the dealership about any worries I had about engines, they said that the old D200 could've done with a little more torque, whereas the new one performs very similar to the old D240 (in some cases better) - and this was the engine that was receiving strong reviews (used by most companies e.g. car wow and carbuyer etc when reviewing the Defender). With all this in mind, this is why I opted for the D200, and I may try and unlock its potential further down the line with some engine re-mapping.

Cheers Kubrick1978, I ended up choosing the D200 as I thought there was a £3500 price difference between the D200 & D250, but when I was placing the order the salesman said there is actually a £7970 difference between the 2! So that made the D200 a more sensible choice for me. As you say there are options down the line if you want to change to a D250 or D300 map, but I can't really see myself doing that. I do have a friend who has the D200 in a 90 and he loves it, he says it has plenty of power and like him I'm not really into 0-60 times and max power at my age, I'm much more of a sedate driver now Laughing I may look at adding the Advanced Off-Road Capability Pack mainly for the Configurable Terrain Response and hopefully the TR2 has improved from when I had it on my Range Rover. On the FFRR if you had it in auto on cold mornings it used to delay the throttle response so you would be at a junction and need to pull away quickly and it just seemed to bog down so I just used to turn it off Confused

3.0 D200 out performs the old 2.0 D240, on torque at least, 500Nm vs 430Nm.

That’s about 3 months I’ve had mine, very pleased with the D200. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Well after being Censored about by my salesman lately I found out yesterday that he has actually left the company! Rolling Eyes I was told by the receptionist that I now have a new salesman and she gave me his email address to get in touch with him as he wasn't in yesterday. Got a reply from him today and seems it is not the bad news I was expecting. According to the vista system these are my dates

Planned Build Date - 27/08/21
Planned Delivery Date- 17/09/21
Last Spec Change - 14/07/21

So it looks like I have missed the chance to make any changes even though I did ask when was the final chance to make any changes so it looks like my build is locked in now and I just need to wait. Confused Cheers Ian

At least you don’t have too much longer to wait but a bit of a pain though that your previous salesman didn’t say he was leaving and your new guy didn’t introduce himself. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Yes hopefully that time passes quickly although I sure it will drag on as I am really looking forward to it.

It was annoying that the salesman didn't let me know he was leaving although he may not have left by his choice and I don't suppose my 'new' salesman will let me know why he left. I thought it was going to be a repeat of when I bought my FFRR from Pentland at St. Andrews, the salesman there made loads of promises that the dealership wouldn't honour when the guy left half way through the buying process Evil or Very Mad Cheers Ian

Pentland Cupar has now shut altogether since opening Dundee, they were going to keep it open as a used car and LR service centre but COVID finished it off completely. I’m now using Dundee but the same salesman, much preferred Cupars after sales to Dundee but then I did build up a relationship with Cupar, hopefully I don’t have to build up a relationship with Dundee after sales team. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

I use what used to be Morrison’s Land Rover at Bannockburn near Stirling - as a family run business they were great and made you feel like a valued customer but in 2019 the family sold out to John Clark Group aka Pentland and virtually all of the staff who worked there under the Morrison’s banner have moved on and I think only one of the original sales team is still there, the rest are a bunch of unknowns who don’t seem to be interested in engaging with even long term loyal customers because they don’t know a regular customer from a tyre kicker and don’t seem to care. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I think this happens a lot when family run businesses are taken over by much larger groups, you lose that personal touch

I used to know Andrew Morrison as I used to take the odd photo of him before I retired, he was always competitive in the older V6 MGZR and also when he moved to the Seat Thumbs Up
