Collection day for me today. Excited...but wait! A phone call from dealer: car not ready, forgot to book into workshop.

Land Rover levels of service from the get-go. Oh well, waited this long....

Ordered in May, was initially told September as an estimate on the order form, after being told verbally, before placing the order, August. Now finally out of the holding pool, and slotted for delivery mid December. Probably too many extras that use silicon that have pushed it out that far.

Tempted to cancel the order now it's going to arrive in the middle of Winter, and reorder to get it in the spring instead. Defender 90 HSE 250D 2022MY - Gave up after two failed orders

Things got sorted. One tiny issue to get rectified whilst we waited but now home. It's great and it's worth the wait.

Tiny pic for now - dog approves. See you all in the "My New Defender" thread...

Well ours has finally arrived at the dealer Cool

Lots to “bolt on” and some to be painted so probably a week before delivery but it will be worth the wait!

4 months from confirmed order to arrival, which under the current circumstances isn’t too bad Thumbs Up

Is it normal for you to be able to change the build spec again after locking it in, when your build is delayed. My build was locked in on the 23rd June, and due for delivery end of August. It’s now been delayed until start of November and I can now make changes up to the 1st Sept. How can LR expect to plan ahead with stock levels if you have the potential to completely change your build?

Not normally, often the car gets built but some components are on back order so it gets taken out of the factory to a big storage area until the bits can be added later at the factory. I think something like this happened to J77’s car. That fact that delivery dates fall back often doesn’t stop the car from being built as far as they can get. They only need IIRC 4 weeks before build to start ordering in the components for your build so you have been lucky that the dealers have told you that spec changes are possible again because many wouldn’t. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Mine came off the production line as scheduled but was being held for some reason, LR don’t tell dealers why but the belief was it was waiting on headlights. Eventually turned up end of March with the wrong wheels and centre console which I opted to delete. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Have a listen here to the RESULTS CALL TRANSCRIPT - it's a long piece (I might try and dig out the actual timing later) but in it Adrian Mardell, JLR CFO seems to suggest that this approach is not one they are taking:

https://www.jaguarlandrover.com/investor-relations

JLR are looking at a huge hit on wholesales in Q2 (now) of 50% - @60,000 vehicles that are not going to get built; and although they hope to improve, the situation will continue for 12-18 months.
