2014 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 ST Keswick Green

[INSERT NAME HERE]

Right-o, time for a thread for my new Defender. I haven’t yet found a name I’m happy with, so a placeholder will have to do for now.

It’s a MY22 110 D300 HSE in Carpathian with the khaki interior and with relatively few extras:
- off-road pack
- Meridian surround
- black pack
- ebony head lining
- 11.4” touch screen
- fancy mirror
- secure tracker pro

I also had the dealer fit the roof rack, classic flaps and a load liner.

Here it is on the day I collected it. I asked the dealer not to clean it, so I got to peel all the plastic off myself…

I’d added the wheels within 40 minutes of collecting it

These are Redbourne Alstons in 20*8.5, ET25, powder coated in satin bronze. The tyres are BFG KO2s in 275/55R20 flavour.

Since then, I’ve had the chance to add about 800miles, and am really happy with the way it goes and stops.

Next on was the roof tent:

Powerful UK’s videos were extremely helpful in settling my nerves as I pulled a brand new car apart.

2008 Defender 110 BMW M57 3.0 Diesel XS CSW Auto Santorini Black

Looks great. Picking up my D300 on Sunday. I’ll try not to pull it apart for a small while, although might need to fit side steps and flaps! Just don’t like the idea of breaking plastic clips everywhere. 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X

I hope everything goes to plan on Sunday

Whilst I didn't fit my own, I got plenty up-close and personal with the rear flaps when removing the bumper to fit the recovery hoops. Happily, I think there's very little risk of breaking any clips when fitting those.

The extended arches, on the other hand? I reckon I broke north of 20 b*****d clips when removing the standard arches

Happily, the extended arches come with all the clips you need.

Looks great! I love those wheels 😎. What is the offset comparison to the OEM wheels? I’m running 25mm spacers with standard 20” wheels and the same tyre as you are, but am wondering if the ET25 offset would put the wheel at the same position as I have, or if it would be slightly less and more akin to having a 20mm spacer, or perhaps even further to the outside of the wheel arch?

Thanks Tom. At ET25, these wheels stick out 16.5mm more than the standard wheels (assuming the same tyre width - I *think* the factory 20s are 8.5” wide), so nearer to a 20mm spacer than your current set-up.

I had a set of 30mm spacers in the shed for a while, but thought that they pushed the fronts too far out. This combo is a fairly sensible compromise, which seems to keep most of the spray under the car.

It’s a fair point.

Mind you, I haven’t felt the need to clean them just yet - what with all this beautiful weather we’ve been having

As an aside, I’ve found that a spritz with neat Bilberry followed by a quick jet wash means that I can usually get away with non-contact wheel cleaning
