Most punters don’t give a fig about leather and it’s origins. Still used all over the place in clothes, cars, furnishings etc. LR is led by design and fashion and tells its consumers what they should want, rather than the other way round. Velar was targeted at high income, young couples who may well be worried about leather, but Joe Bloggs who is buying a Ford Whatever RS doesn’t.

And it’s a nonsense idea anyway, because unless we eat a lot less beef, there won’t be a commensurate drop in skin production (that would normally be used in leather products) so they will merely be burned, ironically creating pollution and ignoring the most basic idea of the ‘food chain’ that when an animal is killed/culled, all parts of it should be used.

Unfortunately vegans and veggies are allowed to breed Shocked .. I know it should not be allowed but i fear in the not to distant future that meat will be a delicacy for the rich once the % of the population reaches a vegan tipping point(dont know what that figure is....... i think that meat eaters underestimate the influence the tofu botherers mesage is having on the very young and once the come of age it will be by by pork pie im afraid, Big Cry

I live in a land of cheese, melted cheese, meat and processed meat. Might see a salad leaf or two if it comes with cheese and meet. And potatoes. As such, they’ve no idea what a vegan is. We live in a tourist town with an abundance of restaurants aimed at a 70% French, 30% Foreign tourist market, and not one has a genuine vegetarian option as we would understand it in the UK. Normally it’s ‘omelette’ or the aforementioned goat cheese and cured meat salad with the meat removed. All fine by me and Mrs Grenadier but one of the couples in our ‘group’ have a tough old time eating out; he hates all dairy (and I mean ALL) and she’s a vegetarian. I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....
