I was kind of hoping that someone might have joined in the humour and suggested that in the current age we are in that Gerry would get the marketing team rewriting LR history and declaring the Centre Steer as the first none binary / inclusive vehicle and that all new vehicles produced would follow suit....

I think it is more likely that the Great Gerry is in denial about the existence of the centre-steer due to verticality inadequacies and other stylistic shortcomings.

A central steering wheel seemed to work well for Maclaren a few years back, didn’t seem to hold back any F1 sales either……. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I think the great Jezza Clarkson advocated trimming cars in Panda fur, his reasoning being that if there were enough public demand for it, the world would farm pandas and they'd no longer be endangered.

The new tailgate will be non binary, it will hinge on all 4 sides and the middle and doesn't want to be referred to as a tailgate as that name has gender and sexual overtones.

Exactly, they’re forecasting based on a trend. They may not dictate the cultural and social terms and agendas, but they will identify the fads and target them, so they absolutely dictate the terms and decide what they want to put/not put into a car on our behalf. So more likely than not they’ve spotted a trend for vegan leather, NOT that consumers of LR products are demanding car seats made of Vegan leather. They are not one and the same thing. There are car brands with far, far better eco/welfare credentials than LR and they’ve not stuck vegan leather seats in despite having a captive audience. i.e. There’s no genuine demand for it from the consumer. The only one that has is Tesla, but why:

And if LR (I won’t put the onus on you) think that’s going to make them appeal to a whole foods yoga fan from WC USA, then they’ve thrown their money away. Anyone could tell them for free that that consumer would never touch a SUV of any type, it’s anathema to them. Nobody who has genuine interest in a vegan lifestyle will be driving a heavy, polluting (even the EV version during production and export) SUV. Complete clash of culture.

So going full circle, LR have either done it in expectation of a fashion/trend or the betterment of their own image. Consumer has nothing to do with it. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Think we might be agreeing, but you can’t spilt what’s currently fashionable from consumer demand, though - one drives the other. Also the lifestyle thing - nobody really buys into it fully, a hybrid SUV is plenty enough investment to show how very aware you are. (Tesla’s PETA line is a fortunate side-story to the fact that the awful vinyl in them is cheaper than leather).

Beige as a name wouldn’t work (a bit “age” defining), it would put off too many hipsters, they would have to call it something like Overcast Sunrise Smog or something along the lines of the Farrow and Ball paints colour chart names for tinted whites to appeal to fashionistas.
