I'm having to confirm my spec tomorrow, and I'm having a few final 'doubts'. I was set on the S version but I had a look on the configurator tonight and specd out the SE just to see.
The spec I've gone for is a D200 110 with 7 seats, towbar, privacy glass, signature LED headlights, and the off-road pack. I've (finally) decided on Silicon Silver too. Thing is I really really like the 20" 5094 wheels, and was planning on buying a set of ebay - they work out at about the same price as an upgrade via the configurator (approx £1600), but I would still have the original 19" 6010 wheels to either keep or sell on. The differences I can see is that the LED headlights with the SE are different, they are the matrix version. You cant spec these on an S. The other difference is the the audio - and I admit I would like the Meridian system after having the Bowers and Wilkins in an XF in the past - this is a £600 extra for the S. Memory seats come with the SE, and as far as I can see, arent an upgradeable option for the S. These would be useful as I expect the wife to use it at least once a week. I also have added the arch protection and classic mudflaps, which cost the same on either the S and the SE. I had a budget of £55k. With the discount I can get the S model with 19" wheels and signature LEDS bang on budget. I could then pick up a set of 20" (or even 22") afterwards. If I go for the SE, I get the nice 20" wheels from the start, better (assuming the Matrix are better) headlights, audio upgrade and memory seats. I'm just wondering is it worth £3500 or do I stick with the original plan? I'm pretty certain an SE will be worth more than a specd up S when it comes to resale, as extras dont count for much (maybe 7 seats would be an exception). Are there any other differences with the SE? Any input welcome!! |

I think you are correct on the value of extras - An S is an S no matter if there is 10K Extras...

It's difficult to know how far to go isnt it.
For me, I wanted Meridian, blind spot assist and premium headlights. I didn't want clearsight mirror, but having a jumpseat makes it a ticked box anyway, so having it standard on the SE saves a few quid there. With that spec it was £2130 extra to jump to SE. -VAT= £1775, minus the tax super deduction as bought through business (hardtop)= £1335 nett cost, or £40/month on the HP. I didn't think that was too bad, and will probably see some of it back at resale time, plus I get the benefit of nicer wheels and electric memory seats. |

Watch for the seats on the S - on 21MY they are semi powered, and the one bit that is irritatingly unpowered is the front/back movement (I can live without memory) - SE are fully powered (with memory)

Cheers guys. It is hard to know where to stop. I had blind spot monitor and heated and cooled seats on my XF, and B&Ws audio, but it was used so I didnt spec it. In fact I remarked at how much the first owner spent and how much he lost since I bought it used lol.
Anyway I've put it over to the dealer to see if he can sweeten the price a little on an SE. I really want the wheels (either buy separately or upgrade), so it's working out +£1700 to go to SE model. I think that's worth it based on that. Today is the last day I can decide |

If you are worried about resale value I would argue to buy the cheapest configuration you like

Yep if you want a D200 you can only select SE only. You need a D250 to be able to select an S. Good old JLR.

My original build still opens up as a D200 S spec, but whether or not you can get it is another matter!! Lucky I wanted the SE after all this.
