Not heard of any problems on the ex pat websites - just leave your cheese and bacon sandwiches in the UK!
As I assume you'll be driving a Defender if you're stopped they will be expecting you to carry spares and tools as the Duane use 110's and we've had several conversations with officials who run Defenders privately - they will be used to running repairs! Have fun, currently 34 degrees here waiting for the sun to move off the one side of the house so I can get on refitting shutters. Keith |

Great news, thank you.
34 Degrees a bit too hot for me, 🔥🔥🔥but I’m not fitting shutters so hopefully I’ll cope. Where about s are you based. I’ll be in Central Brittany - assuming they let me through 🙂 Drink Coffee, Talk to Strangers and Take Photos. |

Hi Pete
We're approx halfway between La Rochelle and La Roche sur Yon & about 25 minutes from the beaches, on the first set of hills on the edge of the marais (think of the Norfolk fens) - with a couple of meters of rising sea level we'll have a beach front property!!!! Keith |

As long as the tools are not a crowbar, gar cutting torch, sawn-off shotgun and a balaclava I think you'll be safe!

Well I’m here…🤪🤪🤪
Did everything that was asked…I.e. 1. Downloaded NHS App to view and print proof of 2 vaccinations. 2. Had Antigen Test at Boots yesterday morning - result in 40 minutes - result negative. (£50) 3. Downloaded, printed and signed the Statement on my honour stuff about not having any symptoms. At Portsmouth Ferry Terminal check in, had to show Two Vaccinations proof and Negative Antigen result. Straight through. At UK Border Control waved straight through - nobody interested. At French Customs and Border in Caen, showed passport together with proof of two vaccinations and negative antigen test printouts. Straight through. So far so good. Now arrived at my house here in Brittany and all okay there apart from waist high grass to cut and lots of cobwebs inside. Keep expecting to see Miss Haversham somewhere but haven’t found her yet. If I can help anyone feel free to PM me and I’ll be happy to help. But….That’s only half the journey….at some point I’ll have to get back to UK, but I’m retired so in no great hurry to do so. Thanks for all the help. Pete. Drink Coffee, Talk to Strangers and Take Photos. |

It should be like any other border in the world. If you enter carrying costly equipment, you'll provide a list. And if you leave the Union, you'll pay for the missing items. Even your car itsself iif it has been stolen. For the car I've always signed an insurance, since I don't have that much money on me They are going to look after them while yu're leaving the country ... making sure they get the items or your money. and if you have no list, anything has been bought inside the Union. That's the big deal for thé EU border police As said, check everything with respect to your car at first, because you'll rarely escape if the loss is documented |
