I changed my injector seals so changing an injector is about the same. However you have to program the code in the ecu. Roel

If you are just changing the seals make sure the injectors go back in the same place and no coding required.
But that won’t fix a leaking injector, it needs to be replaced. In that case the ECU needs to be told the serial numbers of the new injectors. Once that is done you should do high pressure pump reset and a primary learn, both done using a diagnostic tool or the Forcom software or similar. VCV generally does not cause smoke from the engine, poor performance and economy and erratic idle are the most common symptoms. 2011 130 Utility Body 2005 110 Van |

Erm.... what engine are we talking about here? Injector seals have been known to leak on a Td5, but I see bear100's profile says he has a Puma. Do they leak on Puma too? 2005 Td5 90 XS

Hey guys.
I'm about to do the same thing today. Take the injectors out and change seals tomorrow. Is it necessary to disconnect the battery while I'm doing this? Or is having the key out enough? |

Manual will probably say to disconnect battery but I never have. Just leave ignition off > 110 XS Double Cab

I see no reason why you would need to disconnect the battery, but it is probably worth bearing in mind that there is a hefty permanently-live feed from the battery to the alternator not far from where you'll be working.
It is quite possible that the insulation will be chafed most of the way through, as well, so it might be wroth checking the condition of the harnesses while your head is under the bonnet. |

Well. I'm almost ready to get the injectors back in. Got them cleaned, tested and serviced. Cleaned out the seats as well. Got new washers and seals.
One nozzle's a bit swollen, will have to source that some other time. Thinking while I'm in there, might as well clean out the entire area and change the rocker cover seal as oil was coming out the back and spraying onto the firewall. Keep you posted. |

Ok. So!
Took the rocker cover off yesterday to check the seal to see if it needs changing and clean the face a little bit because of the oil I'm seeing that drips down every time I'm driving. I thought it was because of the swollen nozzle or whatever caused that. But pretty sure THIS is the culprit right here! Whatever sealing material that is, it's broken just there and the oil is spitting out I guess it's gotten worse over time and there may be other spots I'm not seeing. Either way the whole thing has to be removed and done over. Will have to get that done professionally. I don't think I should risk moving more parts on my own. Wouldn't worry too much about the excess sealant being 'broken' on the exterior... It will still be in place between the mating faces > 110 XS Double Cab

Ok. So where you think the oil is coming from then?
I want to explore all possibilities before I put the injectors back in. Which reminds me! Is there a company I can get replacements injectors nozzles from online? I'm in Trinidad and so far only seeing them available from Chinese and Turkish sites. |
