Just a quick question, is there a plug in for towbar wireing in the TD5 rear harness or do I have to go through the drama's of patching into all the lights etc.

Near the Diesel filling tube (from cap to the tank) there is a plastic plate for rear lamps protection.
remove it (two screws). Click image to enlarge there is a free 9 way connector, C0929 on Electric library (Sumitomo DL Series); this is the tow bar connector for plug in the harness to the trailer connector (named C1260 on the tow bar harness not on the car)........ Has anyone found a source for the plastic plug (i.e. the male) which fits into the connector on the vehicl's wiring harness?
Apparently (done digging) we need a:
...but no-one seems to have found a source for them? Hacked off that i could have taken the old one off my Discovery 2 - apparently they're the same I have a (unused) tow wiring kit in the garage, but I'll only use it is I can connect it without splicing the Defender's loom... I've tried, without success , to track down a source for small quantities of the male and female connector shells, terminals, wire seals and blanking plugs.
I've found a few trade suppliers who'll supply them in quantities of several hundreds for the connector shells and several thousands for the terminals and seals and, even in those sort of quantities, the unit price is still very high As BlackWolf has said, it's easier to fit a pre-made towing harness... ...and I just happen to have a Puma Defender 12N Kit (LR005920) up on eBay ATM http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200654026093 The main connector is the same as the TD5, but the additional connectors are now sealed connectors instead of bullets. . Paul - I am already bidding on that harness!
I was hoping to wire-up my car using the rubbish universal kit I have just as a temporary measure so I can use my trailer on Saturday (and your auction doesn't end till after the weekend) . Cheers Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

I might have a harness in the garage - I'm sure it came off my 07 along with the tow bar when I sold it. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

I was looking for the same thing and would assemble the connector myself, but - up to now - no luck. I found this post, which supports what you said and adds a bit of info: https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/62535-tow-b...ent-541955 Below is the text (and images) from that post, in case it goes offline...  The connector on the vehicle loom is a - Sumitomo DL Sealed Series - 090/187(2.3/4.8mm) – HYBRID, 9-Way Female Housing, Part No. F(6195-0170) The mating half you're looking for is a - Sumitomo DL Sealed Series - 090/187(2.3/4.8mm) – HYBRID, 9-Way Male Housing, Part No. M(6195-0173) You will also need 7 x 090(2.3mm) and 2 x 187(4.8mm) Male Terminals, with the appropriate Wire Seals for each Terminal (I have the Part No's if you want them ) I haven't found anywhere selling the connector shells or the 187(4.8mm) terminals in sensible quantities, only the 090(2.3mm) terminals. 1. You could do as suggested in the post above - use individual 2.3mm and 4.8mm male terminals pushed into the connector terminals but, IMHO, that's a bit of a bodge 2. You could change the connector for a more readily available version of the Sumitomo DL Sealed Series connector - http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Pr.../smdl.html 10-Way Sumitomo DL Sealed Series 090 Connector, Female and Male - This would enable you to just transfer the 7 x 090 terminals on the vehicle loom to the new connector shell and, because you would be down-sizing the Aux. Live and Earth (pins 6 and 9), double-up the earth connection and down-rate the fuse on the Aux. Live. 3. You could just buy the Land Rover 12N Kit STC50081 Which plugs straight in, with no fuss.   2020: Defender 110 SW 300 Tdi 2004 Alpine White 2013-2017: Defender 110 S 2.4 (Puma) 2008 Stornoway Gray 2002-2005: Defender 90 CSW 300 Tdi Dark Green |

I have removed the one from my TD5 and replaced with a Deutsch connector instead.
I have the male and female connector shells spare if anyone wants them? Cheers Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

The harness has all connections except for the switched live.
lt has the permanent live, so your caravan ATC (if fitted) will work while you are towing but the fridge won't unless you add the switched live feed with a separate wire. |
