TD5 Cigar lighter piggy back connector
Can anyone tell me where I can buy the two connectors that go on the back of the cigar lighter in a TD5?

I am wanting to make a piggy back connector, so I can wire in some USB sockets.

Yes I know I could probably just use spade connectors, but wanted to try something more secure.

Wiring diagram shows C0074 and C0089. I think the L shaped plug could be YPC109020, but can't find that anywhere.

Or for a very small extra bit of work you could put in a fused supply direct from the battery for your usb sockets and do it properly.
A few feet of twin core and an inline fuse holder and you are sorted 🙂👍
Of course, theres always scotchloks if you want to be hardcore ! 🥴

I have purchased the USB socket from MUD

https://www.mudstuff.co.uk/products/mud-land-rover-usb-socket

They already have a fuse in the wiring, so that is already covered. Was then just looking for the closest power source, which seemed to be the cigar lighter.

I bought a couple to do the same but despite scouring my emails I cannot find the order details! I may have bought them from Martin on this site.

Pretty sure these are the ones? Contact Martin he will sort you out.

Alternatively do you need to retain the cigar lighter/socket? If not have you considered one of these?

I think I will just stick to the OEM look of the MUD USB plugs.

Fair enough. If you find the illumination too bright on them refer to this post

Thanks for the tip! Hadn't got that far yet, but I am sure it would have bugged me.

Have already changed the colour on the radio to match the Defender green Laughing

Martin is also sorting me out with a wiring loom, to fit the back of the cigar lighter. That saves me that job!

Martin provided me with the piggy back connector for the cigar lighter, this just came with two wires hanging off. I will let him comment on the price for this.

I then had to do the soldering to join the plugs from the mud kit. Then, I also used a piggy back spade connector and some 200K resistors to reduce the brightness. As I didn't have either the piggy back spade connector, the shrink wrap sleeves nor the resistors, these cost me about £15 in total from Amazon, but now I have lots spare.

Fitted today.
