Fridge/Wireless Charging
Has anybody who already has their car specced a fridge/wireless charger? The price of £750 for the pair does seem excessive when I look back at my Discovery 4 fridge only costing approx £200! Is the fridge a good size, ie what can you get in it? I'm really not that bothered about wireless charging as I've heard of problems with the iPhone 12 pro max not charging but it seems that you can't get one without the other, I'm wondering whether to not spec it and fit the fridge at a later date like it used to be possible with the Discos. Confused Cheers Ian

4 x 0.5ltr bottles and it’s full, 4x0.3ltr bottles and you have some space for your sarnies too. I keep 2 x0.5ltrs of water, a small bottle of hand sanitiser, a packet of hand wipes and in summer a bottle of factor 50 sunscreen in mine. It will take 4 x 300ml cans of soft drinks easily. It also has two stages of cooling - chilled and colder! I would say it’s a similar size to the one I had in my 2015 RRS. In the RRS one I managed to squeeze in 0.5kg of Stinking Bishop cheese from Teebay Services farm shop........ not clever as even chilled it leaked fluid into the fridge and that was a b*gger to clean causing the car to stink for months afterward.....
I don’t have the wireless charger as it wasn’t an option on First Editions in June 2020 and as I don’t have wireless CarPlay in mine, I have to connect by charging cable to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto anyway.

Thanks Tim, that doesn't look very big at all Sad I'm really not sure whether to go for it, but if I do I'll make sure I keep my Stinking Bishop somewhere else Laughing Your reply has also highlighted something else that I wasn't aware of in the case of Apple Carplay/Android Auto, I didn't realise you had to be connected to the car to use it, that sort of dismisses the need for the wireless charging. Back to the configurator Confused Thanks again, I think I'm going to have lots of questions in order to decide my spec Cheers Ian

Yes, the First Edition was so popular that when the year of production ended LR offered almost the same spec but called XS, but at least First Edition has a better selection of no cost option colours than XS Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Cheers guys, thanks for the help, I'm probably looking at an X dynamic HSE and there does seem to be some weird combinations on the web builder, for instance the rear domestic plug is only available with the off road pack at £1170 Confused Another one is the cabin pre-conditioning with remote control, is that remote start via the app or is it like the old FBH on the Discos? So do they all have remote start and cabin pre-conditioning with remote control is an extra or are they one in the same. Confused Cheers Ian

They all have remote start. The extra is for a webasto preheater.

My Dyn X HSE doesn’t have the pre heater, and to be honest I’m not sure it needs it. The remote start works ok, although it only just about defrosts it in the 30 minutes.

I’m also interested in adding the fridge if possible. I did want to get it but it was only available as part of the convenience pack, and I wasn’t able to get that when I ordered. Convenience pack is fridge, wireless charging and ambient lighting. Good job really because I too didn’t realise it wasn’t wireless car play!

If I could buy the fridge and if it was plug and play, I’d do it. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Thanks Gareth, that's good to know about the remote start, it makes the £1080 for cabin pre-conditioning an unnecessary extra. Thumbs Up I'm very tempted to cross the fridge off also and hopefully fit it as an extra somewhere down the line. Cheers Ian

I am sure (but may have dreampt it) that the fridge install part numbers and cost to do yourself were on the FB pages for New Defender a few weeks ago.... costs were more than the factory option for the parts alone - then you have to fit.

So if you want it spec at factory.

Have a search on there..

Hi,

We have fridge & wireless on our 90 HSE.

Fridge is deeper than the one in my 19MY RRS AB.

Great thing for the summer, nice cold drinks, just buy “stumpy” bottles for the RRS but the D90 takes standards size Coke, Fanta & orange etc.

Thanks for that Scrumps and Simon Audi the fridge is tentatively back on the list for now. Simon Audi, you don't know which facebook page the details were on do you? I've searched a few of the groups but can't find any mention of fridges anywhere. Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

I have both fridge and webasto FBH added extra to my base 90 model.
Fridge works perfect, 2 stages of cooling, holds 4x 0.5l bottles or cans.
For webasto is too hot at the moment to test. I added it to pre-heat the engine (and cabin) in the winter, to reduce the stress for engine when starting cold 2021 Defender 90 D250
