You saved me there! Luckily, I had one that I could whip off another bulkhead.
Anyway, bulkhead has been dropped off at the galvanisers now, along with an assortment of brackets! I also picked my paint up yesterday! Wasn't expecting this many tins. Just hope I use them in the correct order

Another update. Bulkhead and assortment of brackets are back from the galvanisers! And it's come out pretty good! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge The photos don't do it justice. Got a bit of tidying up to do around the welds and retap the threads before I t wash it and get it ready for seam sealing and painting! For anyone thinking of doing the same, just ensure you get it acid dipped as opposed to shot blasted. I didn't brace it as I was concerned about the galv not covering areas where the fixings would have been - whether it's warped or not is yet to be seen, but I don't think it has! I used Worksop Galvanising ... It was a week turn around and didn't cost as much as I expected! Wouldn't hesitate to use them again! |

Why not shot blast?
The acid dip is part of the galv process anyway is it not? |

Hmmm I wasn't aware of them offering an acid dip process prior to it being galvanised - I used two separate companies...
Apparently you can't get into all the cavities with the shot blasting media, so when it gets dipped, the zinc won't adhere properly in these areas (where the door pillars have previously been filled with wax for example). Acid dipping strips everything inside the cavities, allowing the zinc to adhere properly. The galvanisers said they had stopped doing chassis's as people were bringing them in shot blasted, but the cavities still had remnants of waxoil in them, causing mini explosions, consequently damaging them!  |

Nice results there. Makes me wonder if I made the right choice not to galvanize mine. But as you say, the bulkhead needs to be stripped of old waxes and paint. Acid dip does not do that. It needs to be alkali (paint strip). The galvanizers do acid dip to clean off any rust, and prepare the steel. Acid will not remove the paint. My problem was that I do not know of any local company that does the paint strip (full dip). Hence my decision not to galvanize mine
PS.. when I eyeballed my bulkhead from one door pillar to the other, they are not perfectly parallel. Ah, I may be using the incorrect terminology then!
 I used a company called Prostrip, who literally stripped everything from the bulkhead, paint, wax, oil and rust without shotblasting.
Just found the stripping process on their site www.prostrip.co.uk/stripping : Stage 1 - Decontamination of all organic materials including paint & underseal Body shell loaded and secured on a protective frame for treatment. This process is automated and cycle time is determined by the amount of contaminants removed. Average process time 8-14 hours. Stage 2 - Blow off high pressure air jetting to remove residues Stage 3 - Phos-Strip™ (Full immersion) - A chemical tanks containing the Phos-Strip™ solution. Its this part of the process that kills corrosion. Here any rust is dissolved. Stage 4 - Passivation The body shell is rinsed with a mixture of corrosion inhibitors to neutralise the chemicals. Stage 5 - Welding/Repairs At this stage the metal is now clean and free of rust and paint. Any necessary repairs can now be carried out before zinc coating Hope that clarifies my earlier posts |

I really need to update this thread more often!
What's been done:
- Genuine LR dampers installed all round (Thank you 90 Dreamer!). Looking for a set of of genuine springs from a 90 CSW, if anyone has a set gathering dust?
