V8 Developments / V8 upgrades
I am in the process of rebuilding my 3.9 V8 and am thinking of buying a replacement short engine from V8 Developments. I am keen to see if any members have used them and if they are a good option.

I am also thinking of an upgrading the cam to the Kent H200 (as I have a manual gearbox) whcih looking at the reviews suggests an increase of about 20 bhp with not much downside. Exhaust already upgraded to a Double S sport system.

The other option is to put a 4.2 crank in but they seem hard to find / expensive and some mild porting but again feels expensive for the benefits...

LR used mainly on road

Any thoughts / advice much appreciated

I had a 5 litre RV8 from them years ago - built for a cobra kit car. Excellent motor. Does Ray Web still own the business? What he doesn't know about the RV8 isn't worth anything.

PM me if you want more info Richard

If you're looking for more power, a 4.6 is the easiest way to achieve it. I've dealt with V8D in the past and they were very helpful, personally I'd be speaking to Roland at ACR if I was in the market for a short engine. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

My father in law has used John Eales for years to build the Rover V8s in his Morgan racers. He’s got 3.9 and 3.5s from John currently, they last for years in the race cars.

+1 for Roland at ACR. He built the 4.8 that is in my Tomcat. Omex stand-alone management all dyno set up. All good 👍
I know he is a busy man, couple of hours in the office in the morning and the rest of the day being very hands on/in the dyno cell. So you might need to be patient. Phone probably better than email.
Prices were very competitive and down to earth and practical approach. MY15.5 110XS CSW

V8 Developments built and installed a 3.9/4.0 for my hybrid and I've been happy with it.

As others have said Ray knows what he's doing and I'd consider them in the top tier with ACR and JE fro RV8 engines.

One of the members of my local Dax club had a RV8 built by V8 developments, had nothing but good words to say about them. 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0
