[Sold] Defender TD5 110 XS - Price Dropped
The time has come to sell my beloved 110 TD5 XS Defender. This was the top spec when new, with part leather seats, a legal four sideways facing seats in the loadspace with lap belts.
Air-con, electric front windows, heated seats and heated windscreen.

Registered in March 2005, she benefits from the lower vehicle excise duty (road tax) rate, and is finished in Cairns Blue.

Mileage is now: c.105,000. I have had around 20,000 trouble-free miles with her in six years of ownership, during which she has been kept garaged when not in use. I am the fourth owner.

She has been serviced as follows:
29 miles - Land Rover Vehicle Preparation Centre, St. Neots
14,890 - Brian Davies & Son, LR specialist, Churchstoke
31,142 - Brian Davies & Son, LR specialist, Churchstoke
51,821 - Glanmule Garage, Powys
72,902 - Glanmule Garage, Powys
80,311 - Shukers Land Rover, Ludlow
*I bought the car*
86,085 - Harwoods Land Rover, Basingstoke
91,686 - Challenger 4x4 independent LR specialist, Tongham (they didn't stamp the book but I have the invoice)
101,452 - Safari 4x4 independent LR specialist, Eversley (they didn't stamp the book but I have the invoice)

If you look at her MOT history (BK05LLA) you'll see only one fail while in my care, due to emissions. That was my fault, she had only been used lightly in the run up to the test and after a quick trip up and down the motorway to clear the tubes she passed easily. With only 3 MOT fails in 16 years on the road, I think it's safe to say she has had a pretty pampered lifestyle. Next MOT due August.

I have made a number of modifications, mostly for quality of life improvements:

New transfer box: 1.2 Discovery ratios to improve cruising comfort and has produced a fuel economy benefit as well. Land Rover quoted 26.9mpg for these when new, I have obtained 30mpg and it easily returns over 28mpg when used regularly. This work was done by McDonald Automotive, independent LR specialists in Shropshire, who had originally sourced the vehicle for me.

GORE fuel filter housing: the old one had rusted very badly, I have replaced it with a solid aluminium version which should outlast the vehicle.

XDefend column lock: installed on the ignition barrel to provide a layer of security against theft.

Wipac Crystals: Upgraded headlights with Osram Nightbreaker bulbs and stainless steel bezels, again to provide longevity. (I have the originals if a stock version is preferred)

Wipac LED light kit: Upgraded side, brake, indicator, reverse, fog and number plate lights with LEDs, brighter and faster-acting for safety and visibility on the road. These are clear style which I think works well with the dark blue paint. (I have the originals if a stock version is preferred)

VW '99' Wiper relay: Means there is an infinitely variable intermittent wipe function on the windscreen wipers, currently she sports Bosch Aero wipers all round which are far superior to the original fitments. (I have the original if a stock version is preferred)

Nakatanenga leather door pulls: for the driver and passenger doors at the front I have fitted leather handles to pull the doors closed, this stops the original plastic fittings jabbing me in the thigh (I have the originals if a stock version is preferred)

Double DIN dash: MUD Stuff dash unit fitted to accept-

JVC KW-M565DBT head unit: Double DIN touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB, AM/FM, Bluetooth streaming and handsfree calls along with a reversing camera. I also fitted a Nakatanenga DAB aerial to provide a signal to the unit, it is powered and provides great reception.

Exmoor Trim Premium XS Cubby: in leather trim to match the seats, lockable, this also has a double USB charging socket.

Rear auxiliary 12v socket: installed in the rear load area, a permanently live socket for charging etc.

Rear worklight: an LED rear worklight has been installed with a genuine Land Rover switch in the dash.

It also appears there is wiring for radio antennae to the mounts at the rear of the vehicle; this was present when I bought her and I have never used it.

I'm asking £19,000 (The cheapest on AutoTrader is currently £23,995 (although it has done fewer miles it appears to have none of the mods) - I would really like this to go to a forum member or someone who loves these vehicles as much as I do. Obviously if upgraded parts are replaced to provide a stock finish there would be a reduction in the price expected!)

Ha! I'd be keeping it if I could afford to; swapping it wouldn't solve my problem unfortunately! Whistle

I should also say - I have the tow ball for the Dixon Bate stashed in my garage, obviously it'll come with the car...

Lovely car.

If only it was a 90, you’d have a PM.

With the risk of gate crashing the OPs post, I am on the lookout for a 90, so if you are serious about parting with it, drop me a PM.

I’m having her MoT’d on Saturday. So any time after that pretty much!

Here’s the wedding I just did:

Just an edit to the original post to include precise details of service history.

The truck is available for viewing - please PM to arrange.

I am having her MOT'd this Friday for piece of mind for the next keeper.

Here are also some more photos showing mileage, interior condition and the rear of the vehicle with worklight and reversing camera.
