How about changing the engine completely to something more fun! M57 for instance?

In my neck of the woods it's hard enough finding anyone to do a straight engine swap, let alone a conversion! Plus, I've been without use of the vehicle for two months now, so am anxious to get using it again as quickly as possible. Hoping to sample the B57/ B58 in the spiritual successor next year though!

Duckworth LR is a bit far from @roddyfox
Eish Roddy, that is bad luck... A friend in CT had a 2.2 failure as well recently and we looked at the Ford option, but Ford stipulates that the warranty is void if the engine is fitted to anything but a Ford. In the end he found a good engine from a crashed Puma. Those Puma engines don't like to be rebuilt, every story I hear ends up in tears.. Your choices are: get a new engine from LR, hunt for a 2nd hand engine, or do a BMW M57 conversion. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Thanks Naks. I'm willing to forego the Ford warranty just to get my vehicle back on the road, but was wondering whether any unforeseen problems might be encountered in fitting that engine. Alternatively do you know of any successful M57 conversions done in Cape Town please, or for that matter anywhere else in the country? My web search came up with very little, and nothing recent.

Thanks too to Mark's Landy for your info, but as Naks points out, Lincolnshire is some distance from the Eastern Cape!

I have done exactly that, and apart from the stiffner plate, oil filter arrangement and sump, no difference, have done 30k kms now with no issues!, 2002 130 td5 Gameviewer
