The new version of that tyre is widely available albeit in 'KO2' rather than KO spec.

If you are open to a slight size change, 235/85/16 might be easier to find and probably the original size fitted to your Defender. Camskill have them in that size. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I'm a big BFG All Terrain KO2 fan, but the Falken, Cooper and General equivalents are also supposed to be very good, especially if you're struggling to source the BFGs currently. BFG have also shot up in price in recent years unfortunately, making them generally dearer than the rest now...
Size wise, both 235/85/16 and 265/75/16 were factory fit at various points through Defender lifespan, and both are virtually identical in rolling circumference, so go with whatever suits your wheels and needs best! |

Aside from being a great all-rounder, KO2s just look right on a vehicle, more or less any 4x4 vehicle. I've had them on my Discovery 2, on my current Ranger crewcab, on the Shogun I've just sold, and will have them on the L200 that's arriving next month. The Defenders have always run BFG MTs, but if I wanted an AT it would be the KO2 without a doubt. Expensive - but you get what you pay for.
In terms of OEM spec, the original ATs were fitted during the late 90s/early 2000s, in 265/75R16 on 90s, and 235/85R16 on 110s. --- 2006 Defender 110 SW 300Tdi • 2011 Ford Ranger XLT crewcab • 2015 Defender 110 Station Wagon Utility TDCi |

When I bought my daughter her 90 300 tdi in 2019, it came shod with BF GOODRICH 265/75/16 tyres which needed changing. I changed to these 235/85R16 120/116T Davanti Terratoura A/T. They will be available in 265/75/16 soon. They come with a snow flake rating. Now the 90 is my daughter's first car. She got the 90 as she has a horse so there is a lot of field work involved. She also had to drive in snow. She copes admirably with these with no experience due to the 90's permanent four wheel drive and the tyres.

i am a big fan of BFG KO2, they are excellent in every way, lots of grip, last for a million miles, they don't sag, look good excellent in mud snow and sand.

The 235s will perform better off road than the 265s in almost all scenarios. You need width primarily for lateral grip, i.e. going round corners. Length of contact patch gives you traction. Two tyres run at the same pressure and load will have the same total area (approximately) on the floor, the narrower one will have a relatively longer contact patch. The wider the tyre the more mud you have to move out of the way, increasing resistance. Lower profile sidewalls give less sidewall deflection. That's good for high speed cornering as you don't lift up the inside part of the tread so much so retain more traction. Larger sidewalls give you more deflection and more possibilities for letting the air out for offroad driving (lower pressure = longer contact patch and less likelihood of tyre damage).
