I have thought about it too but it is down the list of priorities. Be good to know though as it might bump up the list....
I did think that the majority of the engine noise comes out between the bonnet and the wing top more. Certainly fitting door seals to my old 200tdi made a huge difference to engine noise. Anyway that’s my 10p worth 🤠 |

I used this stuff. Uber simple to cut and fit (self adhesive’) and works a treat, looks good as well.

Did you remove the internal bonnet panel to fit the material behind it? Any sign of melting or heat deterioration? |

Ahhhh ok I thought that might be the case and how I would have done it too.
Tell me about the seals around the bonnet. Are they stick on? ON my old 200TDi you could slot defender door seals on to the inner lip of the bonnet and not possible with a TD5 bonnet. It's a great idea if you live in a colder climates and the 200TDi certainly warmed up quicker with the seals and kept warmer for longer. |

Yes the round the edge is a stick on self adhesive roll of “D” shapes rubber seal. Found on fleabay. The back one is from a Saab 900 bonnet. It seals under the bonnet edge to the bottom of the windscreen cowl area. Just clips on and is the perfect size.

Thanks Guys, only asking as I’ve recently purchased a td5 truck cab and it sees quite abit louder than previous 300tdi’s and td5s I’ve had or driven!

Remove the roof trim panel and get alu backed butyl sound deadener on to it then foam sound absorber on top of that. The uninsulated roof really resonates badly in the small cab. Also remove the door cards and do the door skins. This will dramatically reduce your cab noise levels. Every little bit helps...

Well the bonnet insulation panel was a no go and has now been returned, it was woefully thin and for the money it cost they’re was absolutely no noticeable difference! So far I’ve dynamat the foot walls battery boxes and fitted thick closed cell foam to the foot wells and parts of the bonnet where safe. So far there’s been zero reduction in DB reading on the app I’m using, it’s currently reading at 83 db when idling, I’m sure my other td5’s I’ve owned in the past were no where near this loud at idle. Anyone else happen to know what their sound levels are when idling?
